A one-day seminar was presented to all students of Nuristan University on the harms of narcotics and ways of prevention. The seminar was organized by the General Directorate of Student Services and Coordination in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling Committee, with the help of Professor Muhammad Yaseer Ihsas and Professor Nahzatullah Adil at the Professional Education Development Center.
In the opening speech of the seminar, the university president, Professor Hamidullah Abed, spoke to the students about the importance of ethics and manners in life. He emphasized that they should pay attention to ethics in their daily affairs and avoid immoral matters and things.
He also advised the students to refrain from using any kind of narcotics, as the use of narcotics weakens both the mind and body, deprives individuals of progress in life, and hinders their competition with peers. Furthermore, he mentioned that the use of narcotics has negative consequences in the afterlife as well.
To raise awareness on the topic, the Director of Invitation and Guidance, Mufti Riyadhul Haq Mansoor, briefly shed light on the use and harms of narcotics from an Islamic perspective. He stated that narcotics are the actions of Satan, and anything that leads to intoxication is considered forbidden. The use of forbidden substances invalidates the worship of Muslims in the eyes of Allah.
Afterwards, the two mentioned professors together provided comprehensive and detailed information to the students on addiction identification, types of addiction, different narcotic substances, causes of addiction, harms caused by narcotics, and methods of preventing addiction. They encouraged students to refrain from using narcotics themselves and to raise public awareness about the issue in their communities.
At the end of the seminar, a number of questions from the students were answered by the professors.
